Using the canvas

  • Nodes ▾ in the top-left toolbar lists everything you can add, grouped by type.
  • Or right-click empty canvas and choose Add here, to drop it where you clicked.
  • Templates adds a ready-made set of nodes and links (see Templates).
  • Import (right-click the canvas) turns a docker run command, a compose file or a link into nodes: see Import from Docker Compose.

Click a node to open its panel. Apps have tabs for Overview, Logs, Environment, Run, Source, Notes and Settings.

Drag from a node’s dot onto another node. Both nodes must be on the same network (see below). Right-click a link to remove it.

After a build, dashed ghost nodes appear for services your code seems to need: a database because it reads DATABASE_URL, a cache because it uses ioredis, and so on. Choose Link to use one you already have, + Add to create it, or hide the suggestion.

  • On a node: Open settings, Start, Stop, Restart, Redeploy, Wake, Remove from group, Delete.
  • On empty canvas: Add here, Group, Add note here, Import, Reset view.
  • On a link: Remove link.

A group is a labelled box around nodes. Double-click the label to rename it; right-click for its colour.

Network What it means
Public network (default) The group is only a label. Its nodes share the workspace network with everything else.
Isolated network Members reach only each other. Outbound internet and public URLs still work. Applied at the next Deploy.

Linking nodes in different networks is refused: move them into the same group first.

Deleting a group keeps its nodes.

Add a sticky note with the Note button, N, or right-click → Add note here. Notes take light markdown (bold, italic, code, lists, [ ] tasks, links), come in seven colours, and can be:

  • Public (the whole workspace sees them) or Private (only you).
  • Pinned to a node or group: the note shows as a badge on the node and in its Notes tab.

Use them to explain the setup to the next person. The canvas is the documentation.

Undo and Redo are top right (⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z, or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z), up to 100 steps. Undo covers what is still staged: a Deploy (or Discard all) clears the history. To go back after a deploy, use rollback.
