Cache
Add Cache > Valkey. Valkey is the open-source continuation of Redis: anything that speaks Redis (ioredis,
redis-py, BullMQ, Sidekiq, Laravel queues) works with it. Versions 7.2, 8 (default) and 9.
What your app gets
Section titled “What your app gets”| Variable | Example |
|---|---|
REDIS_URL |
redis://app:…@cache-7:6379 |
Apps that read VALKEY_URL, REDIS_URI, CACHE_URL or REDIS_CONNECTION_STRING get that name too. Fields:
uri, host, port, user, password.
Accounts: Root, Application (the default for links), Read-write and Read-only. The anonymous default user is off.
Data is temporary
Section titled “Data is temporary”Valkey keeps its data in memory. A restart, redeploy or sleep can empty it. Use it for caches, sessions and job queues that can be rebuilt, and keep anything you can’t lose in a database.
Connecting from your laptop
Section titled “Connecting from your laptop”External access works as for Postgres: add allowed IPs, pick
accounts, deploy. Use TLS (rediss://). The certificate is self-signed, so pass the downloaded certificate or
--insecure:
redis-cli -u "rediss://readonly:PASSWORD@cache-7.example.dev:25003" --insecure ping
